After nine months of Batik and Tailoring instruction and learning how to run a small business, our first class of students enjoyed their graduation ceremony which took place in February, 2008.
What a remarkable, exciting time that was! What a transformation in the lives of these women who have now formed small business units of 4-5 women per unit each group sharing a kiosk to sell their tailoring products. With their treadle sewing machine, a gift from Village Ministries, the graduates are now business women who can give their children 3 meals a day instead of one and can pay the fees for their children to go to school.
SINCE THEN, 405 STUDENTS IN OUR VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS HAVE GRADUATED AND 125 MORE ARE PRESENTLY (2010) STUDYING TAILORING AND COSMETOLOGY.
PLEASE CHECK OUT OUR NEWSLETTERS TO SEE THE EXCITING PROGRESS SINCE 2007. GOD HAS MADE EVENTS HAPPEN AT AN AMAZING SPEED. WHILE SCHOOLS ARE ORGANIZED AND STUDENTS GRADUATE, MANY ARE HEARING THE GOSPEL, ACCEPTING CHRIST OR BEING STRENGTHENED IN THEIR CHRISTIAN WALK.
YOUR DONATIONS ARE ALLOWING US TO DO THIS WORK. |

In April 2008, we were able to drill another well for drinking water on the new Vocational School grounds. This well will provide clean drinking water for the ex child soldiers living in Bong County who will become the student body. This was provided by a donation from icross Canada ministry and means that Village Ministries is now ready for our new school to be inspected by the Norway Methodist Church who will pay some of the expenses of running this school. Opening ceremonies were held the last week of August and final arrangements are underway for classes to begin. PRAISE GOD! |

In February 2008, the Village Ministries team, including most of the office staff spent a week in Bong county visiting many isolated villages, showing the Jesus Film each night with many more Liberians accepting Christ. Many villages do not have a church building, a well, a school or any medical help. We were able to hand out donated eye glasses to adults, stuffed dolls to children, take blood pressures and provide medication. |

Many Liberians get sick and die because they must drink water contaminated by paracites and diseases. Harvest Christian Church in Chicago, Illinois gave a gift of $10,000.00 designated for two wells of safe drinking water. These wells were successfully drilled in October 2007 in two separate villages and serve 5,000 villagers per well. Now many Liberian children and adults will be alive longer because of these wells. One out of every three children will die from preventable, water bornes diseases beforea they are five years of age. |

Although many Liberians respect Christians and the work of evangelism, there are still people who continue to resist, humiliate and even kill Christians. Sometimes their secret society devils destroy the church equipment and buildings. |
